What Next? Climate change, technology and development
In this issue of the journal Development Niclas Hällström warns that the urgency of the climate crisis may open the door for new, untried and risky techno-fix solutions. He argues that society must find ways to ensure precaution, sustainability and equity when introducing new technologies. He raises concern that ‘geo- engineering’ and new converging technologies at the nano-scale as solutions to climate change could lead to new global problems and highlights the importance of civil society.
