People’s Charter for Health

More info/Summary

The People’s Charter for Health has been translated into 40 languages and is the most widely endorsed consensus document on health since the 1978 WHO Alma Ata Declaration on “Health for All”.

The Charter was drafted and refined in a participatory process during 1999-2000. Niclas Hällström, WhatNext? played a key role in the drafting process as well as the overall coordination and organising of the PHA in his role at the time as Associate Director of the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation.

The Charter constitutes the basis for the global People’s Health Movement (PHM) which came out of the first PHA process.
